Sports Media Weekly No. 104- Steve Lapore, Puck the Media

http://sportsmediajournal.com/ We are back a day later than normal for this week’s edition of Sports Media Weekly. Ken Fang of Fang’s Bites and I start the show by looking at the ratings numbers for the NHL Playoffs, NBA Playoffs, the Coca-Cola 600 and Indianapolis 500. We also look at HBO’s plans for this year’s season of Hard Knocks with the Miami Dolphins and a possible media connection to the sudden return of the Pro Bowl. We end the news segment by discussing the meltdown by Ken “Hawk” Harrelson during last night’s White Sox/Rays game and whether its OK for local announcers to be cheerleaders for their teams. We continue the hockey talk with Steve Lapore, editor of Puck the Media. We talk to Steve about his move to SB Nation and why he’s one of the only sports bloggers focusing on the sports media covering hockey. We also touch upon the work done this year by NBC covering the NHL and the potential of CBC losing it’s Hockey Night in Canada product when its contract runs out.
