Robert Hegyes, of 'Welcome Back, Kotter' fame, dies at 60

Robert Hegyes, who played Juan Luis Pedro Phillipo de Huevos Epstein on the 1970s sitcom "Welcome Back, Kotter," died today, according to The Star-Ledger.

Hegyes died of an apparent heart attack after suffering chest pains at his Metuchen, New Jersey home, the Ledger reports. He was 60.

Hegyes was best know for his role alongside a young John Travolta, but he also had roles on television shows like "Cagney & Lacey" and guest-starred on "NewsRadio" and "Diagnosis Murder."

Hegyes and nearly all of the original cast members reunited last year at the TV Land Awards to recognize the show's 35th anniversary.

He leaves behind a two children, Cassie and Mack, and two step-children, Sophia and Alex.
