LEHIGH COUNTY

CITY LIMITS ASSEMBLY OF GOD, 302 Ridge Ave., Allentown, will give away more than 1,000 free live Christmas trees at 7 p.m. Friday, and there will be live Christmas music and free hot dogs and hot chocolate.

ALLENTOWN will hold public forums on Dec. 6 and 8 to get public input on the Allentown Lehigh River Waterfront Master Plan. The sessions will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Sheridan Elementary School, 541 N. Second St., Allentown. Registration will begin at 6:15 p.m., with the meetings to begin at 6:30 p.m. The Dec. 6 meeting will include a summary of the first community forum in September, a presentation of conditions and best practices for the Lehigh riverfront and an exercise in which attendees will help to create a vision for what the riverfront should be. The Dec. 8 meeting will include a presentation of the emerging ideas, goals and principles for the Lehigh riverfront. Also scheduled are a facilitated discussion of the "likes and dislikes" for the initial concept plan, a "post-a-note" comment session and one-to-one talks with the project consultant team. The "post-a-note" session allows attendees to comment on the concept plans by writing their remarks on a note and sticking it on the map.

FULLERTON AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY UNIT 367 will hold its annual Christmas party at 6 p.m. Dec. 13 at the post home, Fullerton Avenue and Wood Street, Whitehall Township. LEHIGH COUNTY TRIAD (The Right Information and Direction) will meet Dec. 13 at Emeritus, formerly Green Meadows, 1545 Greenleaf St., Allentown. Scott Zabower, dietary service director and executive chef of Emeritus, will teach a cooking class titled, "Cooking at Emeritus with Julia Child." Zabower will dress as Julia Child and perform a skit while cooking. A free continental breakfast will be held at 8 a.m. followed by the program at 8:30 a.m. For information, call 610-967-5454.

NORTHAMPTON COUNTY

STATE REP. JOE EMRICK will open a full-time district office in the Nazareth Borough Municipal Building, 134 S. Main St., beginning Thursday. The new office, which will take the place of Emrick's satellite office at Memorial Library of Nazareth and Vicinity, will be open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. Emrick will continue to maintain his other full-time district office at 2165 Mount Bethel Highway, Upper Mount Bethel Township. Services offered include: assistance with birth and death certificates, PACE and PACENET applications and property tax/rent rebate forms. For information, call 570-897-0401.

Dressed in Victorian attire, the carolers capture the magic of Christmas with glorious harmonies. The free program is part of the Arts and Artists series. NEW BETHANY MINISTRIES' 14th annual Luminaria Night will be Dec. 10. Luminaria Night is when homes in a neighborhood line their streets with luminary bags — white bags with votive candles burning inside — in the evening. The luminaria kit contains 10 white bags, 10 votive candles and sand for the bags and is $10 for the first kit and $5 for each additional kit. Kits will be available 4-6 p.m. Dec. 5 and 6 at the Bethlehem Memorial Pool building, Illicks Mill Road, or by contacting New Bethany Ministries at 610-691-5602, ext. 21, or email newbethany@newbethanyministries.org. The organization is also seeking block captains to distribute order forms and kits on their street. Proceeds go to New Bethany Ministries. Inclement weather date is Dec. 11.
