FOOTBALL TRIVIA

FROM THE MORNING CALL

Bangor is hosting Northwestern at 7 p.m. Friday in the biggest Colonial League game on the Week 9 schedule.

Slaters senior running back Scott LaValva is part of this week’s trivia question.

TRIVIA

Scott LaValva likely isn’t going to break his own personal singl-season record for rushing yardage he set as a sophomore (1,662 yards). He has 722 this season to date.

Four other area running backs set their personal bests as sophomores. Name them.

LAST WEEK’S ANSWER

Pius X’s A.J. Long became the fifth area quarterback to throw for at least 1,000 yards as a freshman. He is the area record holder with 1,764 yards through eight games this season.

Other area QBs to reach at least 1,000 yards as a freshman:

Nazareth’s Ryan Fry (1,437 in 1995), Bethlehem Catholic’s Dan Kendra (1,434 in 1991), Notre Dame-GP’s Ric Shumaker (1,186 in 1988) and Dieruff’s Alex Atiyeh (1,045 in 2003).

RECORDS

Potential record breakers this weekend include:

Northern Lehigh’s Cody Remaley (5,609) can move past Parkland’s Austin Scott for third place on the District 11 career rushing list with 194 yards.

Remaley also needs one TD against Catasauqua to pass Scott for fourth place on the area touchdown list. They both have 74.

LaValva (4,407) needs 54 yards to pass Notre Dame-GP’s Dan Tavani for second place on the Colonial League career rushing list.

Wilson’s Kowan Scott needs 38 receiving yards to become the area’s career receiving yardage leader. Central Catholic’s Jeff McGeehin (2,377 from 1971-73) is the current leader. Scott is currently injured.

RECORD SETTERS

Pen Argyl’s Dylan Evans tied the school record with five touchdowns in last Saturday’s 35-28 win over Northwestern. Five others also scored five times in a game for the Green Knights.

Southern Lehigh’s Jeff Smillie (career receiving TDs) and Saucon Valley’s Jason Okken (career receptions) set records last week.

Smillie and Scott each have 100 career catches and Evans has 44 career TDs.
