THE STAR FROM THE OFFICE IS RETIRING

Steve Carell confirmed to UsMagazine.com that he will be leaving after the 2010-2011 season of NBC’s hit “mockumentary” comedy series “The Office.”

His reason for leaving the show is not because of cast conflicts, “These are some of my best friends in the world! But it will be good -- it will be good for everybody.”

The reason then, “It’s the last on my contract, and I want to honor my contract." Carell,47, plans to spend more time with his wife and their two kids.

In 2005 the American version of “The Office” debuted and became a cult classic. Michael Scott, played by Carell, is known as a friend first and a boss second to his fellow employees at the Scranton, PA branch of Dunder Mifflin.

Carell won a Golden Globe in 2006 for his role on the series and has been nominated four times for an Emmy, but has yet to win.

“The Office” is expected to continue without Carell. Who will take Michael Scott’s position? It’s possible that Dwight Shrute is already plotting his way to the top as we speak.
