Slate Belt resident John Redos qualifies for national rowing team

Blair Academy graduate John Redos, a student at Cornell University, has earned a spot on the United States U-23 national rowing team that will compete in the World Championships July 22-25 in Brest, Belarus.

Redos, an Upper Mount Bethel Township resident who formerly lived in Harmony Township, rows for the Vesper Boat Club of Philadelphia. He joined Steven Cutler, of Princeton, Erich Schultze, of Harvard, and Tobin McGee, of Worcester Polytechnic Institute, as members of the winning lightweight fours team at the national qualifier last weekend at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J.

Last season at Cornell, Redos won the freshman lightweight eights at the Eastern Sprints. Last summer he won the USCA K1 Touring Kayaking national championship.
