NAZARETH FIREWORKS ARE BACK ON FOR THE 18TH

The fireworks over Nazareth's fireworks are over.

Nazareth's Vigilance Hose Co. No. 1 agreed tonight to hold its annual fireworks July 18 after ice cream vendor Norm Boell volunteered not to sell his goods during the fireworks, the point of contention that canceled the fireworks earlier this week. The fire company allows the Nazareth Area Kiwanis Club to sell food during the event and members feared Boell's truck would cut into the Kiwanis' profits.

"I'm more than willing to step to the side," said Boell, who is under contract as a concession stand operation at the borough park pool. "They're friends of mine -- I'd like to keep it that way."

Borough Councilman Larry Stoudt called a meeting tonight between the fire company, Kiwanis and the council's fire committee to resolve the dispute. The groups did so peacefully, Stoudt said.
